Headteacher's Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

Doesn't the sunshine cheer you up?! Following the Easter break, it's been a very positive week at Parkfield with a range of activities and learning experiences for children taking place ensuring that the steady return to normality continues.

Next week we're also able to start the first after school clubs of this academic year for years 2, 4 and 6. We hope to offer after school clubs to the other classes after half term. Please do take up the offer as it's a great opportunity for all pupils to stay active and healthy.

Our Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/Parkfield) has been filling up this week with a range of activities taking place across all classes. Year 1's trip to Chester Zoo was a particular highlight and gave the pupils in that class a memorable experience. Year 3's Ed-venture day was also a highlight where they had the opportunity to learn about cartography. With well over 50 tweets from this past week, you're bound to see some great learning taking place in your child's class.

Even though it is something we have learned to live with this year, I still have to mention coronavirus and the continued measures we have in place at school to ensure that pupils, staff and the winder community stay as safe as possible. Please help us by continuing to wear masks and socially distance on the yard, get your child tested if they have symptoms and self isolate if anyone in your household tests positive. The bubble system remains in place at school and I truly hope, with your support, we won't have to send any classes home over the next term.

Thank you for the continued support and have a lovely weekend.

Mr Kemp

LATEST NEWS

PARENTS EVENING

Next week's parent's evening takes place between 3.30 and 7.00pm on Wednesday 28th April. Information has already been emailed across to all parents and carers. As we'll be using video calls, we are trialling a new system that promises to be much simpler. It allows you to easily book your time slot online, automatically emails you back with your booking information and give easy access to video calls either using a phone, tablet or laptop. Information and bookings can be made here: https://parkfieldprimary.schoolcloud.co.uk/

The teachers are limited to 5 minutes only per meeting so please ensure you turn up on time as the software will move onto the next parent when it's their time slot. We believe this will be a much more efficient system that will help you plan your evening and not have to be waiting around for others.

The meeting will focus on how your child is doing in reading, writing and maths and how they've settled in after the period of lockdown.

If you are struggling accessing anything please contact the school office and they will be happy to help.

LOVE TO READ

We've update the information on our website so that it is in line with our new Accelerated Reader initiative. There is information on there about the reading books that are sent home for pupils in years 2-6. Please familiarise yourself with the information as it will give you a deeper understanding about the books your child is brining home and the ZPD levels included on the front of the books. The information can be found here: https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/english/reading

Y6 BREAKFAST BOOSTER CLUB

Starting from this Monday and for the remainder of this school year, Y6 FREE breakfast club sessions are going to start. The club will start at 8.15am and will help prepare our Y6's fully for their transition into high school. All are invited and just have to turn up to breakfast club for 8.15am. We hope to see plenty there!

CURRICULUM OVERVIEWS

Our curriculum section of the website includes a range of information including what your child is learning over the year (https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home) . We've updated the half termly curriculum overviews for each class and they can be found on the links below:

LEARNING LOGS

Learning Logs for this half term's topics will have been sen out by the end of this week. There are a total of 4 tasks that children can choose to complete before the deadline on Monday 24th May. One of the tasks is linked to this half term's Parkfield characteristic of being confident. When they are brought back in, the children will be able to present their work to the rest of their class. The learning logs for each class and some helpful information can be found here: https://www.parkfieldprimary.com/website/learning-logs/

PARKFIELDER CHARACTER

This week we introduced this half term's focus for Parkfield character: confidence. We're going to be looking particularly at ways how we can further develop confidence in our Parkfielders throughout the school curriculum this half term. You'll see many of these opportunities tweeted over the next few weeks.

REMINDER - SCHOOL CLOSURE - POLLING DAY - 6th May 2021

A reminder that school will be closed to all pupils on Thursday 6th May due to polling. Due to coronavirus restrictions, including the use of bubbles and social distancing, it is not possible to have the children in the building whilst it is being used as a polling station. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

YEAR 1 SCHOOL TRIP

If you'd like to view a wonderful slideshow of Y1's trip to Chester Zoon this week, please click here: https://t.co/F4XsKM2Dii

YEAR 5 OUTDOOR AND ADVENTUROUS

Although Y5 have had their trip to Robinwood cancelled this year, we've been able to book them some outdoor and adventurous activities to compensate on missing out. They're going to be visiting the activity centre at Hollingworth Lake where they'll take part in raft building and team building activities on the 7th July 2021. All parents and carers will recieve information via email about the event in the next week.

TRIPS FOR OTHER YEAR GROUPS

Please keep an eye on your emails as we hope to plan trips for other year groups before the end of the year!

YEAR 6 RESIDENTIAL AND LEAVERS HOODIES

We extremely hopeful that the Y6 residential to Blackppol will be able to take place. This week we sent some information out about leavers hoodies requesting sizes from yourselves. Please send them back as soon as possible as we'd like to have all those attending the residential to be able to wear their leavers hoody.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

We don't want this year to pass without the opportunity to have an official school photograph - particularly those in Reception and Year 6. As a result, we've booked the school photographer to come into school on the 4th and 10th May 2021. Unfortunately, we will be unable to have younger/older siblings attend in the usual morning slot - due to covid restrictions - but over the two days we will get individual and sibling photographs of all those in school. More information will be sent nearer the time.

CORONAVIRUS

A reminder that our Covid-19 information page is being regularly updated and includes an up to date risk assessment. If you're unsure about the guidelines that are to be followed, the information will be on this page.
