Issue 1 - 2nd September 2021

Headteacher's Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you have all had a lovely summer break and are looking forward to all children returning to school this Monday 6th September.

Parkfield staff have been busy over the summer preparing school for the return of all pupils. This has included some updating and redesigning of the Reception classroom and outdoor area. All areas across the school look great and are ready for our Parkfielders.

This September sees the removal of many of the coronavirus restrictions that we have had to work with over the past 18 months. Although these changes are a welcome move towards normality, you'll be aware that the virus is still prevalent within the community and as a result some restrictions will remain with us. More details, can be found below and will be updated on our Covid-19 information page.

I hope the information below should answer any queries you may have. However, if you have any last minute questions please email the school office: office@parkfield.rochdale.sch.uk

We look forward to seeing you on Monday morning.

Mr Kemp

COVID RISK ASSESSMENT AND RELATED INFORMATION

The school's updated and detailed risk assessment and outbreak management plan can be found on our Covid-19 information page. A brief synopsis is given below.

COVID RESTRICTION CHANGES

In line with government guidance, many restrictions have been removed for the new school year. These include:

  • No more bubbles. Children can now mix during break and lunchtimes.

  • Children no longer have to isolate if they are identified as a close contact.

  • Whole school assemblies to return.

  • School is not responsible for contract tracing.

  • Face coverings are no longer advised - although we will ask parents and carers to wear a mask if they come into the school building.

COVID RESTRICTIONS REMAINING

To reduce the possible spread of the virus some restrictions are still in place and it's important that you support the school and the community by continuing to follow the rules in place. These include:

  • Pupils to remain at home if they are poorly.

  • School will refuse permission to pupils displaying covid symptoms and ask them to have a PCR test. A negative result must be presented to school before the child can be re-admitted.

  • Ventilation within the school will be a priority.

  • Continued use of hand sanitiser and hand washing.

  • Promoting good hygiene through catch it, bin it, kill it message.

  • Staff will continue to test twice weekly using LFT's.

  • Remote learning will continue for those pupils that are unable to attend due to self isolation or restrictions on attendance. Remote learning information can be found on this page: https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/remote-education

OUTBREAK MANAGEMENT PLAN

It is important to note that if there are a number of positive cases within the school we have in place an 'Outbreak' management plan to help reduce further the possibility of transmission. This includes bringing back some of the restrictions that we have had in place over the past year and include: return of class bubbles, no/reduced assemblies, use of face coverings by all staff. Please note that there is still the possibility that a whole class bubble will be sent home for a period of time.

PE KITS

From Monday, all Parkfielders will need to come to school dressed in their PE kit on their PE day. For those that don't have a royal blue hoody, a school jumper must be worn. No other hoodies are allowed. Click here for information on uniform and PE kit.

Monday - Year 3/4

Tuesday - Year 5/6

Wednesday - Reception

Thursday - Year 1/2

MORNING ROUTINE - SCHOOL STARTS AT 8.45am PROMPT. PLEASE BE ON TIME!

We will be continuing the morning routine of lining up outside in the playground with a member of staff collecting the class at 8.45am. This ensures a timely and organised start to the day for pupils. Please note that the doors will now be closed at 8.50am. Arrivals after this time will have to enter through the main entrance. Pupils arriving after 9.00am will be recorded as late.

PARENTS/CARERS IN THE PLAYGROUND

Although face masks aren't now required in the school playground - we do recommend that they are used due to the crowded nature of the playground. Also, please remember to socially distance from others including members of staff and pupils.

Y4 SWIMMING LESSONS

Y4 start their swimming lessons at Middleton Arena on Wednesday. More information will follow in a separate email but they will be having an hour swimming lesson every Wednesday up until February.
