School Updates - Friday 27th March 2020 (Issue 20)

Dear Parents and Carers,

School remains closed and for those crucial workers with emergency childcare needs we will be at Little Heaton Primary School from Monday 30th March 2020. Those attending are to take their child/children to Little Heaton for the usual 8.45am start and 3.15pm finish. We must remind everyone, that whenever possible, and unless absolutely necessary –STAY AT HOME and protect yourselves, others and the NHS.

PROVISION AT LITTLE HEATON

Due to Parkfield's low attendance and a staffing shortage we've took the decision to join up with Little Heaton and Sunnybrow at the Little Heaton Site. This will remain in place for the forseeable future. Those attending will be with Parkfield staff and will not be sharing any areas (classroom, playground, toilets...etc) with Little Heaton staff and pupils. Children can be taken onto the playground, through the KS1 gates, which can be found on Broadman Lane. Parkfield Staff will be there to meet you.

A huge thanks to Little Heaton who have been able to accomodate us and ensure the provision continues for our families that need it. If you have any issues with these arrangements please contact school immediately by email: office@parkfield.rochdale.sch.uk

HOME LEARNING INFORMATION AND UPDATES

A reminder that children can acces work on our new Curriculum Site https://curriculum.parkfieldprimary.com/home-learning.

Suggested activities are online for children and are being updated regularly by our dedicated teaching staff. Thank you to all of the children and parents who are working on these so far. Please be aware that teachers are unable to comment on every piece of work or respond immediately.

These are suggested and not compulsory. If you choose to play games, teach baking or take up a new hobby instead – then that is great! We would love to see what wonderful things the children have been doing when we are all back in school as normal.

If you have children of multiple ages in the household, then it may be difficult to engage them in their learning at the same time for extended periods. Please then try something together that you may all enjoy, reading a book, playing a game or something online. (Even working together on the cleaning chores)!

Parents, you are doing enough. You are supporting children and your families through a very difficult and emotional time. Look after yourselves, take a break, minimise anxiety and stress and look after your mental health.

CONTACT

If you need to contact school, then please email office@parkfield.rochdale.sch.uk Please do not come to the school site – STAY AT HOME. For anything related to home learning please email homelearning@parkfieldprimary.com. In an emergency, then please ring the school telephone number and you will find details of how to contact us further.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

The government has announced a voucher scheme for all those families entitled to Free School Meals. However, the detail has not been finalised so we will still be offering the grab bags to those that have requested them from next week. We'll let you know when we have more information.

And finally… thank you for all your help and support during such difficult and unprecedentited times. Stay safe and well and we hope to see you all as soon as we can.

Yours sincerely,

Mr M Kemp
