Issue 1 - Wednesday 2nd September 2020

Headteacher's Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

We can't wait to see you all tomorrow morning. We have been working hard over the summer to prepare the school for your child's arrival and ensure the school is as safe as possible for all Parkfielders.

Many of our pupils haven't been to school since March and will understandably be a little anxious about the return. Please reassure them that they have nothing to worry about and will soon be into the daily routine of early mornings, working hard and socialising with their friends.

I hope the information below should answer any queries you may have. However, if you have any last minute questions please email the school office:

See you all tomorrow and thank you for your continued support.

Mr Kemp

School re-opens to all pupils in Y1-6 at 8.45am on Thursday 3rd September. Please walk onto the school site and wait in the appropriate area that will be signposted. We are not staggering the start and finish times of the school day like many other schools. Alternatively, you will be directed into a particular area of the playground to stand whilst dropping off and picking up. This will help everyone socially distance and keep staff and pupils safe. Door will be kept open a little longer as we understand siblings may be waiting on different playgrounds.

We will regularly update the following page with information regarding coronavirus. This includes all school risk assessments and what to do if your child develops symptoms.

Our exciting, new school menu is now available. Although KS2 children will be eating dinner in their classrooms, they will still have the opportunity for a hot meal each day. . Please note that school dinners have increased in price in line with local authority guidelines and will cost Β£2.30 per day or Β£11.50 per week.

Unfortunately there will be no tuck shop in KS2. As a result, children will have to bring your own healthy snack (e.g. cereal bar, cheese, fruit...etc). Please avoid crisp and chocolate. Children will be reminded that they are not able to share food and drinks.

In KS1 (Reception, Y1 and Y2) the children will be provided with a snack as per usual.

For those parents who have opted for the click & collect service, they have now arrived in school. We will be handing these out to the children on Thursday.

Children in KS2 are able to bring school bags into school and place them in their lockers. A reminder that bags need to be small and will only need to carry reading books and packed lunches as PE kits will be worn to school on PE days.

Children are allowed to bring lunch boxes into school and place them on the trolleys provided.

Children will be provided with a water bottle on their first day at school. We will fill them up on the first day for them! These will then need to be taken home each day, washed and returned the following day.

Unfortunately, children will not be able to bring in any sweets/cake to share with their classmates for their birthday. As an alternative, we would be extremely grateful if they want to donate a book to their class library..

The DfE have provided parents with a range of information for children returning to school. It can be found on this link here:

Pupils in Reception will attend Parkfield for the first two weeks and two days for either the morning or afternoon. The morning group will attend between 9 and 11am with the afternoon group attending between 1 and 3pm. All reception pupils will begin full time from Monday 21st September.

For those booked in, breakfast club starts on Thursday 3rd September from 7.30am. After school club will also begin the first day back until the usual 5.30pm. Please note that there have been slight increases in the cost for this provision. For the foreseeable, both clubs will take place in the school hall. Spaces for both clubs are limited but can be booked by contacting

PE lessons will start on Monday 7th September and classes will have PE on the following days. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed in their full outdoor PE kit.

      • Monday: Year 3 and 4

      • Tuesday: Year 5 and 6

      • Thursday: Year 1 and 2

Please note: Reception do not require an outdoor PE kit. More information can be found here:

Friday 11th September and Friday 9th October 2020 are now going to be school INSET days where the school will be closed to all pupils. As a result school will now be open on Monday 19th and 20th July 2021 for pupils. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. If the changes to the summer dates impact on any holiday plans already made please contact the school office.

A huge thanks to all that contributed to our justgiving page before the Summer holidays. We raised over Β£2500 and we have started spending it on some much needed library books. Please see below for some pictures of our revamped library and a selection of the books that have been donated.
