Issue 1 - Wednesday 2nd September 2020

Headteacher's Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

We can't wait to see you all tomorrow morning. We have been working hard over the summer to prepare the school for your child's arrival and ensure the school is as safe as possible for all Parkfielders.

Many of our pupils haven't been to school since March and will understandably be a little anxious about the return. Please reassure them that they have nothing to worry about and will soon be into the daily routine of early mornings, working hard and socialising with their friends.

I hope the information below should answer any queries you may have. However, if you have any last minute questions please email the school office: office@parkfield.rochdale.sch.uk

See you all tomorrow and thank you for your continued support.

Mr Kemp

LATEST NEWS

SCHOOL RE-OPENING

School re-opens to all pupils in Y1-6 at 8.45am on Thursday 3rd September. Please walk onto the school site and wait in the appropriate area that will be signposted. We are not staggering the start and finish times of the school day like many other schools. Alternatively, you will be directed into a particular area of the playground to stand whilst dropping off and picking up. This will help everyone socially distance and keep staff and pupils safe. Door will be kept open a little longer as we understand siblings may be waiting on different playgrounds.

COVID-19 INFORMATION

We will regularly update the following page with information regarding coronavirus. https://newsletters.parkfieldprimary.com/covid-19-information. This includes all school risk assessments and what to do if your child develops symptoms.

SCHOOL MENU

Our exciting, new school menu is now available. Although KS2 children will be eating dinner in their classrooms, they will still have the opportunity for a hot meal each day. https://www.parkfieldprimary.com/website/dinner-menus.html . Please note that school dinners have increased in price in line with local authority guidelines and will cost £2.30 per day or £11.50 per week.

TUCK SHOP

Unfortunately there will be no tuck shop in KS2. As a result, children will have to bring your own healthy snack (e.g. cereal bar, cheese, fruit...etc). Please avoid crisp and chocolate. Children will be reminded that they are not able to share food and drinks.

In KS1 (Reception, Y1 and Y2) the children will be provided with a snack as per usual.

PE KIT COLLECTION

For those parents who have opted for the click & collect service, they have now arrived in school. We will be handing these out to the children on Thursday.

SCHOOL BAGS, LUNCH BOXES, WATER BOTTLES

Children in KS2 are able to bring school bags into school and place them in their lockers. A reminder that bags need to be small and will only need to carry reading books and packed lunches as PE kits will be worn to school on PE days.

Children are allowed to bring lunch boxes into school and place them on the trolleys provided.

Children will be provided with a water bottle on their first day at school. We will fill them up on the first day for them! These will then need to be taken home each day, washed and returned the following day.

BIRTHDAY TREATS

Unfortunately, children will not be able to bring in any sweets/cake to share with their classmates for their birthday. As an alternative, we would be extremely grateful if they want to donate a book to their class library..
