Issue 2 - 4th September 2020

Headteacher's Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

The last couple of days have been wonderful. After many months being off school, our Parkfielders have demonstrated how resilient they are and adjusted to the new school routines and systems brilliantly. Seeing the children back in the classrooms ready to learn and then on the playground playing alongside their friends has been a pleasure. Many of the children that started on Thursday morning feeling a little nervous I hope have felt reassured that school is still a happy, safe and fun place to be. Parkfield, once again, feels like Parkfield!

As a staff team, we're also adjusting to the new rules and routines and we have had to make slight adjustments to how the school day runs. However, we're learning more each and every day to ensure the systems in place run effectively. One alteration is that we have had to change our initial plan of how lunch times were organised and today's dinner was much more successful. We now have all the children in the hall for their dinner but there is a new rota system and enhanced cleaning in place to ensure everyone is fed in a timely manner with no mixing of class bubbles.

Thank you for your continued support

Mr Kemp

LATEST NEWS

DROP OFF AND PICK UP

We'll soon be used to the new dropping off and picking up routine. Thanks to all for your cooperation so far in standing in the allocated areas whilst waiting. We want this to work as we don't want to have to change to a staggered start/finish system. To help reduce congestion even further we are asking:

  • Only one parent/carer to enter the school grounds, where possible

  • Those that are happy for their child to walk onto the school site and wait on their own may do so (likely to be Y6 and 5 children)

EXTRA CURRICULAR CLUBS (Y2-6)

Clubs for children in Y2-6 will be starting back on Monday 14th September. Although there is a limited choice, we're pleased to be able to offer some extra curricular activities at this time. Please click on the link below to book your child onto one of the clubs.

NEW RECEPTION CLASS

Although many of our new intake haven't been in nursery since March our new Parkfielders have settled in brilliantly over the past couple of days. They have been getting used to their new teachers, routines and learning environment and we've been really impressed with the start to the year.

SCHOOL CLOSED NEXT FRIDAY

A reminder that school is closed next Friday 11th September due to staff training. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.

Y4 SWIMMING

Y4 start their weekly swimming lessons next Wednesday and an email has been sent with all the details. This will be an experience that many wouldn't have had for the past 6 months! If you have any questions, please email the school office: office@parkfield.rochdale.sch.uk

NO USE OF THE CAR PARK BY PARENTS AND CARERS

To help keep everyone safe we're asking parents and carers to not use the car park when you're dropping off or picking up. This includes those that have children attending Early Birds and Busy Bees. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

SCHOOL MENU

Our exciting, new school menu is now available. Although KS2 children will be eating dinner in their classrooms, they will still have the opportunity for a hot meal each day. https://www.parkfieldprimary.com/website/dinner-menus.html . Please note that school dinners have increased in price in line with local authority guidelines and will cost £2.30 per day or £11.50 per week.

HEALTHY SNACKS FOR KS2 CHILDREN

A reminder that children are welcome to bring in healthy snacks for morning break because we currently have no tuck shop up and running. There is also no toast available for KS1 and KS2 on a Friday.

BIRTHDAY TREATS

Unfortunately, children will not be able to bring in any sweets/cake to share with their classmates for their birthday. As an alternative, we would be extremely grateful if they want to donate a book to their class library.
