Dear Parkfield Families,
As we come to the end of another fantastic school year at Parkfield, it’s a chance to reflect, celebrate and look ahead to exciting new beginnings.
First and foremost, a huge good luck to our amazing Year 6 Parkfielders - who enjoyed a fantastic leavers party on Monday night in the school hall. We are incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved during your time here – from your learning and friendships to the way you’ve lived out our school values of positivity, ambition, resilience and kindness. We’ll miss you, but we know you’re ready for the next step. Best of luck at high school – keep being brilliant!
To mark their time at Parkfield, our wonderful and talented Mr Haughton has create a special Leavers’ Video, which you can watch here. You can also look back at hundreds of photos from their time with us here .
Well done to all the pupils across school who were nominated for this term’s Character Award, recognising those who have consistently shown honesty and responsibility. It was not an easy decision, but a big thank you to our School Councillors, who carefully chose the two deserving winners earlier this week.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all our families for your support throughout the year – from helping with homework and attending events, to simply encouraging your children to try their best every day. It’s a privilege to work with such a supportive school community.
Have a wonderful summer break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Wednesday 3rd September. A reminder to please read the important information below.
Take care, enjoy the sunshine,
Mr Kemp
WEDNESDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER 2025 School re-opens for all pupils. New Reception children will be arriving at either 9am or 1pm.
FRIDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER This half term's winning house is Wood (Green) so children in that house may come to school on Friday 5th September in non-uniform.
MONDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER Y6 Breakfast Booster Club begins. The club is free and allows our Y6 pupils to come to school have breakfast and take part in activities that will better prepare them for the Y6 SATS.
MONEY RAISED AT SUMMER FAIR
Last Friday was a huge success - thank you to those that were able to come and support the school and spend an afternoon in the sun at a variety of different stalls. We raised a total of £1060 and this money will be spent on a range of resources for our Parkfielders.
STAFF LEAVING
Mrs Bardsley, who has been at Parkfield for the past 7 years, leaves us today. She is leaving for a new challenge at a special school in Bury and she is going to be missed by the children and staff. We want to thank her for her hard work and dedication to the school over the past 7 years and wish her all the best in her new venture.
Good luck to our interim Deputy Head and SENDCO, Mr Russell, who has his final day at Parkfield today. Thanks to Mr Russell for his support and hard work over the past two terms where he has played an important role as a member of the school's leadership team. He will be missed and we wish him all the best in his new role.
Today is also Mr Barnett's final day at Parkfield. Mr Barnett has been at the school for 12 months and has supported our Year 6's brilliantly whilst also being of great support for the sport taking place across the school. Good Luck for the future Mr Barnett.

PE KITS
A reminder that, children can wear either a white or royal blue t-shirt for their PE kit. The t-shirts don't have to include the school badge but these are available from Broadbents, Middleton.

The KS2 lockers are only small. As a result, children in Y3, 4, 5 and 6 in September only need a drawstring type bag for school. There is no need for large school bags.

End of year reports were sent out earlier this week. We would like your views on the reports to see what improvements, if any, can be made for next year. Please let us know by completing this short questionnaire: https://forms.gle/GaZk4b67KHfQAPHRA
ATTENDANCE - A REMINDER ABOUT SCHOOL FINES FOR UNAUTHORISED ABSENCES
Please note that, in line with the school policy, fines will be issued to families that go on a term time holiday where children miss 5 consecutive full days. Currently the fine is £160 per child per parent which equates to a £640 fine for a two parent family with two children. This is reduced to £320 if paid within 21days. If you are going on holiday due to exceptional circumstances, please speak to the headteacher as a fine may not have to be issued. More information an be found on our attendance policy found here.
SUMMER READING CHALLENGE
Mr Robinson and our Reading Ambassadors promoted this year's Summer Reading Challenge in assembly on Monday which they would love lots of Parkfielders to take part in!
How to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge at your local library
Children can join the Challenge at the library and take part in person. The 2025 Challenge starts on 5 July in England.
How it works:
Visit your local library (Middleton) and tell them your child would like to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge.
The librarian will sign up your child and give them a collector folder. Your child will set a reading goal.
Your child can borrow and read books, eBooks and audiobooks for their Challenge. They can read anything they like!
The library will provide stickers and rewards for your child’s reading.
Many libraries offer a variety of events and activities for children and families to enjoy throughout the summer in addition to the summer reading challenge. It would be great to see lots of children getting involved this summer! We will present children who have completed the reading challenge with a certificate in a special assembly when we come back to school in September.

DATES FOR THE DIARY
We like to be prepared and give parents as much notice as possible and as a result we have updated our school calendar for 2025-2026. Please visit the calendar to see the wide range of events we have planned for next year.
SCHOOL GATEWAY MOVING OVER TO ARBOR
As previously mentioned we are moving over to a system called Arbor rather than School Gateway. However, we've been able to continue using Gateway until September so payments can continue as normal. We will communicate further changes in the new school year.
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUB FOR SEPTEMBER
Please note that this will be able to be booked from 1st September on our new Arbor system. There is no need to panic as there will be spaces for all children to attend. More information will be sent near the end of the summer holidays.
ALL AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS CLUBS WILL START BACK ON MONDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER. AN EMAIL TO SIGN UP TO THE CLUBS WILL BE SENT IN THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR.

EASY FUNDRAISING - PLEASE SIGN UP, SPEND MONEY AND RAISE FUNDS FOR SCHOOL!
We want to let you know about a way you can support the school using an online platform called easyfundraising. It helps schools, causes and charities in the UK raise donations for FREE by simply shopping online.
They have partnered with over 7,000 brands including John Lewis & Partners, Argos, Iceland, Amazon, eBay and M&S who will give you and the school a donation every time you shop with them at no extra cost.
The brand pays easyfundraising a percentage of what the shopper spends and easyfundraising turn that into the donation that goes to the school
Over 190,000 causes and charities are using this at the moment and £56 million has been raised so far, so it really does work!

FREE SCHOOL MEALS, FREE HOLIDAY CLUBS AND FOOD VOUCHERS
Did you know that if you are entitled to free school meals you also get access to free holiday clubs and food vouchers during the holidays? To apply or if you're not sure if you are eligible, please read the information and apply using the link here. School receives additional funding for those pupils that are entitled for free school meals and this much needed funding helps better support all Parkfielders. Even if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 or they're on packed lunch - please still apply. In addition, if there has been a change in your family circumstances (i.e. recently become unemployed) you may also be entitled to apply for Free School Meals.
Latest Class Updates
Mr Kemp is our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) supported by Mrs Clawson and Mrs Smith (Deputy DSL). If you have any concerns about the needs or welfare of a pupil, please don't hesitate to contact the school. We all share a responsibility to our pupils safety and wellbeing.
As a school our promise is: We will listen, we will support and we will take action.
More information can be found on the school website here: https://www.parkfieldprimary.com/website/safeguarding-and-child-protection.html
As you are all aware, school attendance and punctuality is one of Parkfields priorities and I have been thrilled with the support that parents have been giving with regards to improving their children’s attendance.
Our school target is 96% this year and we need your continued support to ensure that we meet this mark.
Persistent absence is defined by the Government as attendance below 90%. This equates to 19 days or more of absence a year or 100+ lessons missed. If a child’s attendance drops below 90% this could lead to them becoming a safeguarding concern. This could also result in the authority taking legal action against parents, resulting in a fine or court appearance. Over the next few weeks I will be making contact by letter with the families of children whose attendance is below 90% to invite you into school for a discussion about how we can support you to improve your child’s attendance.
Thank you so much to all the families who have been working hard to ensure children’s attendance and punctuality is high. Establishing early good habits really will make a positive difference to their lives. The link between attendance and achievement cannot be over stated. Your child will achieve better if they are in school every day. Only in very exceptional circumstances should a child be absent from school. Please ring the school office no later than 8.30am to report an absence.
Please get your child to school on time. Poor punctuality can lead to your child…
Feeling embarrassed in front of their friends
Missing the beginning of vital lessons making them fall behind
Missing important instructions for the rest of the school day
At Parkfield children are to line up before school and doors open at 8.45am. They close at shortly after.
If you arrive after the doors are closed you will have to come through the school office.
Arrivals after 9.30am are classed as an unauthorised absence for the morning session.
STAY SAFE EARLY BIRDS - REMINDER
If your child is attending Early Birds, please walk down the path and through the KS1 yard - it may take a few more seconds but it's much safer than walking through the busy car park. If the hall door is ever closed, simply ring the bell for assistance.
Dogs are not permitted in the school playground.
If driving, park further away from the school and walk to reduce congestion and the possibility of any serious accidents.
Unfortunately, Parents and Carers are not allowed to drop off and pick up from the school car park at any time.
Children are not allowed on the play equipment before and after school. Please keep them off.
